Comments:

Faithful in Nowhere - Encaustic is part of my Nowhere Series. It was inspired by a mailbox I passed while out walking and my gentle giant companion, Ezekiel, that faithfully walks with me through life. This encaustic work is the original and cannot be duplicated.

Faithful in Nowhere encaustic is a digital artistry composite image totally created by my imagaination. The digital painting is professionally printed and combined with encaustic wax that layers over the archival printed paper that is mounted on a custom hand-made and painted sustainable birch wood cradled panel. The piece is hand brushed with layers of encaustic wax and embedded oil pigments fused in a beeswax and damar resin mix. This process creates not only an original encaustic mixed media work that is extremely archival and nonreproducible but also gives depth to the painting with a dream-like effect.

This artwork arrives ready to hang in a custom-made solid wood floating frame finished in a dark brown-black hue. The framed artwork is sealed for protection on the frame back with information about the artwork's inspiration, artist statement, and artist signature. In addition, there is information regarding encaustic work and the care of the encaustic work.

Encaustic Fine Art  –

  • Encaustic works are extremely archival as the beeswax makes them impervious to moisture so they will not deteriorate, yellow, or darken. In addition, these works do not need to be varnished or protected by glass.
  • These archival works are quite durable, but as with any fine art, care should be given. In normal household conditions, there should be no fear of the work melting as the combination of the wax and resin will not melt unless exposed to temperatures over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. It would not be advisable to leave an encaustic work in an automobile that may be subject to extreme conditional temperatures or to hang in front of a window with direct high heat sun such as in a desert-like environment. Likewise, encaustic works could be sensitive to freezing cold temperatures and these types of conditions should be avoided.

  • Some encaustic works may appear hazy or what is known as “bloom” over time. If work becomes hazy this can be alleviated by simply rubbing the surface with a soft lint-free cloth or nylon to return the work to its original nature as the encaustic wax continues to cure and harden during the first to third years of its life.
